Cooper from a painting by Richard Ansdell was reproduced in The Illustrated Times on 26 November 1859. It shows a deer being attacked by two dogs. The surrounding landscape is bleak, rocky with no vegetation and a cloudy sky above. The Herschels prints and drawing collection becomes increasingly drawn from illustrations extracted from one of the many illustrated newspapers on the market from the second half of the 19th century onward.
