Antique Milners 212 Fire Safe or Strong Box, Liverpool England, circa 1870

An English antique fire resistant Milners safe, painted green. This safe has a lovely natural patina, and the original bronze Milners plaque. A fire resistant safe box with interesting brass badges and steel carrying handles. The interior with advertising poster of the full range of safes that Milners produce. In 1830 Thomas Milner moved from Sheffield to Liverpool and set up the firm of Thomas Milner and Son, where he was a Pioneer in the development of fire resistant safes and much involved in taking out patents and demonstrating the excellence of his safes by placing them in the center of huge bonfires. Note: this piece is extremely heavy.
